More Birthday Happenings...

DAY 158 - June 7, 2009

Kaleb got a lot of birthday money and gift cards this year. He's been saving up for a big Indiana Jones Lego set...it's cost...$80.00! He got enough Target gift cards and cash to buy it plus have a little left over. He was SO EXCITED to make this purchase that we went this afternoon and picked it up. Kaleb came home and worked on this thing the rest of the day with the exception of about an hour when I had him go outside to play with Kaden and a friend from down the street. In total, I believe he spent about 6 hours on this thing! He wanted it completely put together to show Doug when he got home from work. It had almost 1000 pieces so I think he did a great job with it. He sure loves putting these things together!

Kaden has also been saving up some money for a special purchase from Target. What did he want...as you can see it's a guitar! It came with some chord cards that show you where to put your fingers as you strum. He's been practicing a few of those and really picked it up quite quickly. We got online and looked up a couple easy songs and he's been working on it. He even played Doug a quick "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" when he got home!

DAY 157 - June 6, 2009

Kaleb's 10th Birthday party was today. He had an Indiana Jones theme going and here is a picture of his cupcake cake. Since it was cupcakes they were eating instead of an actual piece of cake; it seems the boys thought they should have a race to eat them. Or should I say shove them in their mouths and ultimately all over their faces as well? We didn't even have the passed out to everyone at the party and some of them were already coming back for seconds...not because they were starving or wanted another one...just because they wanted to race each other. They had fun and I was definitely we were outside on the deck!

After pizza, cake, presents, and the first round of swimming the boys went out front to play whatever boys play. That would be tag, capture the flag, or just wildly running around in the front yard. I got them to sit still long enough for a quick picture of the whole gang. Of course, to get a nice picture there had to be promise of a silly one to follow. Here's the gang...back row: Caleb, Ben, Jacob, and Nick. Front row: Daniel, Chandler, Mason, Kaden, and Kaleb.
