Edgewood Little League Opening Day and Easter Sunday baseball

Day 103 - April 12, 2009

Today was Easter...we did the usual Easter with the family. First off to Heather Hills Baptist Church for the Easter service with Doug's parents and his sister's family. We also did dinner at his parents' house. But...sandwiched between those two holiday happenings...we went to the Indianapolis Indians baseball game. It was a BEAUTIFUL day. The sun was shining, it was breezy but not too windy, and we enjoyed ourselves relaxing on the lawn. We got the boys "Knot Hole Kids Club" memberships this year for their Easter baskets. For the very low cost of $14.00 each they got the t-shirts they're wearing and admission to EVERY SINGLE HOME GAME of the 2009 season...That's 72, count them 72, home games they could potentially go to. Well, the key is that we will not be able to go to even half of those game. But, if we go to just 2 games then we've more than gotten our money's worth. We all had a great time and even got our first "sunburn" of the season. We didn't even think about the sun until we saw each other's faces after we'd left the game. We'll be pulling out the sunscreen now...lots more games to hit; both little league and the Indians.

DAY 102 - April 11, 2009

Opening Day at Edgewood Little League. Here they are at 9:00am as the National Anthem is being sung. It was cold this morning...probably in the low 40's at this time but would heat up into the 50's before day's end. The wind was biting and was I ever covered up at the throw of the first pitch.

I will say that this time around was a heat wave compared to last year. We had a double header last year and both games were played in the afternoon...when it should be warmer. It wasn't...it was in the low 40's as the high AND raining. The boys were miserable but they still played.

This time around the sun finally came up over the trees and the boys finally warmed up. They had a wonderful game and the entire team did fantastic. They ended up winning 16 - 5. Looks like it'll be a fun season if they keep playing like this!
